Collection: Signe Kløve

Signe Kløve became interested in ceramics after a long period of trial and error at the potter's wheel, when she finally experienced a sense of mastery. Since then, she has been deeply focused on refining her wheel-throwing skills, and later, her work with hand-built elements. Creating with the hands and learning a craft that will stay with her throughout life holds great meaning.

She finds purpose in creating functional, wood-fired objects and in exploring the balance between functionality and sculpture. Through wheel-throwing and hand-building, she experiments with how different tools and textured objects can leave marks in the clay, altering its direction and surface structure. Her work is rooted in an appreciation for craftsmanship and driven by a desire to create objects that will be used and cherished long into the future.

Signe is particularly fascinated by a firing technique called wood-firing, which takes place in large, meter-long kilns, where wood is used to achieve the high temperatures required to fire ceramics. The interaction between the ash and the flames moving through the kiln creates unique markings on the surface of the pots. It is an intensely engaging process where you are involved in every step, gradually raising the temperature and watching the flames change color.
